Catch a Plane Guide

Gloves and Gear

Quick answer

Gloves set how quickly you can grip a plane and how heavy a plane you can hold; gear comes out of gear boxes as jetpacks, parachutes or Gravity Wings. Four game passes touch this system: GOLDEN GLOVES, INF STONES GLOVES, X2 GEAR LUCK and STARTER PACK.

Gloves are the upgrade that decides which planes are worth jumping at, and gear is what changes how you move once you are in the air. Between them they cover everything that is not strength training or a zone unlock.

What gloves actually change

The developer's description puts gloves in one line: upgrade gloves to grab faster & heavier planes. Two properties, both worth understanding separately.

PropertyWhat it means in playWhat it does not do
Grab speedYou catch planes you would otherwise miss, including fast onesExtend how long you can hang
Plane weightYou can take hold of heavier aircraftMake a heavy plane easier to hold on to

That second row is the one that punishes players. Heavier planes are worth more — that is why gloves unlock them — but weight also means more load on your grip. A glove upgrade without a strength upgrade is a faster way to lose planes you cannot hold.

The glove and gear passes

Four passes in the store touch this system. Prices below are the official Robux figures from Roblox's game-pass data.

PassRobuxWhat it does for the glove and gear system
STARTER PACK9Cheapest entry point in the store
X2 GEAR LUCK79Doubles gear luck, which is what decides gear-box results
GOLDEN GLOVES179A glove upgrade in pass form
INF STONES GLOVES399The top glove pass in the list

Read top to bottom and it is a curve: cheap bundle, compounding luck, then two glove upgrades at rising prices.

Gear boxes and the three gear types

Gear boxes are the only source the description names for gear. Opening them gives you one of three things:

  • Jetpacks — thrust. The name is the function.
  • Parachutes — a controlled descent instead of a drop.
  • Gravity Wings — a wing-based air tool, the third movement option in the box pool.

All three are movement tools. None of them is described as a Power or Cash upgrade, so treat gear as a way to change your route through the sky rather than a way to earn faster.

GearType of changeWhy it matters for a run
JetpackAdds thrustLets you reach planes that pass above your jump
ParachuteSlows the fallTurns a failed hang into a repositioning move
Gravity WingsWinged glideA third option for crossing distance between catches

Why X2 GEAR LUCK is cheaper than gloves

79 Robux for a doubling effect looks like better value than 179 for gloves, and on a long enough timeline it might be. The catch is time: gear luck only pays out when you open boxes, so its value is (boxes opened) × (luck multiplier).

A player who opens two boxes and quits got almost nothing. A player who opens thirty got a lot. Gloves, by contrast, pay out on the very next plane.

The practical rule:

  • Playing this game weekly? X2 GEAR LUCK is one of the best long-run purchases in the store.
  • Playing for a session or two? Gloves will do more for you per Robux.

Which glove pass first

If you are going to buy a glove pass, buy one, not both.

INF STONES GLOVES is the most expensive gear-side pass at 399 Robux, above every zone pass except the three worlds — a clear signal of what the top glove tier is worth.

The mistake that costs the most

Buying glove tier after glove tier while never training strength. You end up able to grab planes you cannot hold, which feels worse than being unable to grab them at all — the catch succeeds, the hang fails, and the run ends in the same place.

Strength is free. Train it between purchases.

How to tell whether a glove upgrade worked

There is a clean test, and it costs one run. Before upgrading, note which planes slip past your hands — usually the fast ones and the ones that look heavier. After upgrading, jump at the same plane class again.

  • You catch planes you used to miss — the grab-speed half of the upgrade is working.
  • You catch them but lose them quickly — glove tier is now ahead of your strength; train.
  • Nothing changed — you are jumping at a plane class the upgrade does not cover, usually one far off your line.

That third case is why a pass sometimes seems to do nothing: the plane was never catchable, so the upgrade had nothing to improve.

Gear boxes: how to use them without wasting them

Gear boxes give you one of three tools, and the value of a tool depends on the run you are in.

ToolBest used forPoor use
JetpackReaching planes above your jump heightRiding straight up with no plane in sight
ParachuteSaving a failed hang into a repositioning glideSlowing a fall you could have steered anyway
Gravity WingsCrossing a gap between two planesHovering in place instead of travelling

The pattern: all three are distance tools. If a gear tool is not getting you closer to the finish, you are using it as a toy rather than as a route.

When to stop upgrading gloves

Two signals say you have enough glove for now.

First: you are dropping planes you catch. That is a strength problem wearing a glove costume. More glove tier will not fix it.

Second: your runs are already reaching the finish. Gloves exist to make planes catchable, and if the planes on your route are catchable, the money moves to gear luck or multipliers.

The one exception is a player who deliberately chases the heaviest plane class, which is where INF STONES GLOVES at 399 Robux earns its price.

Gear luck, in one paragraph

X2 GEAR LUCK doubles gear luck, which decides what a gear box gives you. That makes it a pass whose value is entirely a function of how many boxes you open, so it suits a player who is going to keep playing and does very little for a player testing the game for an evening. It also stacks in spirit with gloves: better boxes mean more chances at the movement tools that make harder planes reachable.

Strength and Hanging explains the grip timer those gloves feed into. Progression puts Power, Cash and trophies in order. Game Passes has all 17 passes with official prices if you want the whole store at once.
